Sunderland A.F.C.

A former Real Madrid academy graduate who left in search of regular playing time and further development has emerged as one of LaLiga’s standout performers this season.

According to the Sunderland Echo, CA Osasuna sporting director Braulio Vázquez has made it clear that the player’s future is in his own hands, saying: “It will depend on the player’s own will.”

Victor Muñoz May Consider Sunderland’s Move to the Premier League

Reports previously revealed that Sunderland held talks with Victor Muñoz regarding a potential transfer, with the Black Cats submitting a €21 million bid that was turned down. However, with the final decision now resting with the player, Régis Le Bris’ side could renew their pursuit of the Spanish attacker.

Muñoz currently has a €34 million release clause, which Osasuna would be prepared to accept. The club is unwilling to settle for a lower fee, especially as Real Madrid are entitled to 50% of any future sale, and they are keen to maximize their return.

Sunderland view Muñoz as a highly promising attacking talent who could significantly strengthen their project. His impressive form this season supports that belief, having recorded five goals and four assists in 27 appearances for Osasuna, according to Transfermarkt.

At just 23 years old, Muñoz is regarded as a player with huge potential. The Black Cats are determined not to miss out on such a valuable prospect and are expected to make another serious attempt to secure his signature ahead of next season.
